Detailed overview

How to create?

(1) Go to “My Boards“ section. If you do not have any active boards this going to be your default page.

Otherwise (if you already have one or few boards created) click on menu icon in top left corner to select “Manage Boards“

(2) Click on “Create board“, choose “Value Mapping Board“ and Next.

(3) On the initial configuration screen please specify

  • Name of the board

  • Projects to pool Jira issues from

  • Story points field representing Cost on Value/Cost tradeoffs

Depending on configuration of the Jira Project different fields could be used for Story Points, namely

  • Story Points for “Classic“ projects

  • Story point estimate for “Next Gen“ projects

If you try to use the wrong one an appropriate error message will be shown.

  • Value field representing Value on Value/Cost tradeoffs

    • if you do not have one tick the toggle below for us to use labels instead

  • JQL to filter out the issues

(4) Click “Create“

How to use?

(1) If you toggled for us to use label for the value field you will receive a board with predefined Columns and Swimlanes as well as all applicable Jira issues in “Others“ left column at the bottom.

If you specified the Value field used (probably one of the Custom Fields) you would need to populate few swimlanes to move the issues across. Just navigate to the space between swimlanes to add one or few

(2) Drag and drop issues between columns/swimlanes to assign Jira issues a) Cost in StoryPoints b) Value in the “props“ you choose. All the changes to Assignee field are applied automatically and you do not need to commit it after.

(3) To Edit column value, Change title, Add or Remove one move mouse to selected column and you will receive a tooltip with all the available options:

(4) Same applies to swimlanes: - navigate your mouse to one of them to Add, Edit or Delete

How to configure?

Depending on configuration of the Jira Project different fields could be used for Story Points, namely

  • Story Points for “Classic“ projects
