Detailed overview
How to create?
To create you Scrum Board click on the menu item to select “Create board“ or if this is your first board there should be “Create board“ button on the landing page:
You will redirected to Select template screen to choose one of pre-configured boards or ability to create a custom board you way.
Select “Scrum board“ and click Next
You are one step away - just provide basic configuration to complete:
put a Name to your Board
select Projects/Spaces (there could be multiple so we pull multiple sprints from multiple spaces)
choose Story points field for statistics and estimate (we support any number value but Story Points or Story point estimate are more often used)
any additional JQL you want to specify to shortlist work items (e.g. you might be using cross-team sprints and want to shortlist work items for “Team Alpha“ only)
Click Create.
The following magic will happen:
Will automatically create columns for all the statuses sorted by status categories from TO-DO via IN-PROGRESS to DONE. Additional statuses (if any) will be added automatically when refreshed.
We will automatically create swimlanes for all active and future sprints from the spaces listed. Closed sprints won’t be added. You can bring them in later either manually or automatically by changing board configuration.
We will list all the work items from the projects listed, fine tuned by JQL according to their Sprint and Status.
There will be “Other“ swimlane for all the work items w/o a Sprint defined.
Statistics for columns and swimlanes will be turned on by default.
How to use?
Once you have your Scrum board created you can now use Scrum Management features.
You can add new Sprints either manually by clicking “+“ between swimlanes or it will be pulled automatically with refresh if created elsewhere.
Couple of suggested tips:
consider organizing columns in groups.
consider visualizing links / dependencies
consider using Wide View for planning
consider Focus View for tracking
consider creating multiple views for multiple use cases
How to configure?
Click on Board Settings to open configuration screen.
In addition to general configuration settings we would suggest the following:
consider secondary mapping for Swimlanes if you need to slice sprints (for e.g. by teams, components or labels)
consider secondary mapping for more granular statuses (like Doing-Done) with labels
decide if you need closed sprints
