Tags for Packages and Versions

Release Management App support tagging for packages and versions. The concept is similar to labels in Jira Software, through there are some particulates as well. The major difference is in context: Tags are applied on packages level or versions level that do not intersect. Same time both packages tags and versions tags are shared between different Release Boards that allows to create shared / different to Jira taxonomy.

Create / Edit Tags

User can assign multiple Tags to each package or version. In order to do so:

  1. Open details screen

  2. Start typing in the Tags field

  3. User will be suggested to add existed labels or create a new one

Filter by Tags on Release Board

On both “Packages“ and “Versions“ view you can filter by Tags:

Reminder: Tags are not shared between Packages and Versions, but package specific and version specific tags are shared between different Release boards.

Filter by Tags on Roadmap

Similar to board view Roadmap supports filtering by Tags with only one difference: - Tags dropdown includes both Package tags and Versions tags organized in groups. Thus users can apply either of them or both.

Suggested Use Cases

Our team designed “Tags“ functionality with following use case in mind:

  • additional / flexible taxonomy aka Products, Clients, Brands, etc.

  • we do not support Assignee(s) at the moment, but could be fixed with Tags

  • segregating different levels of visibility for different stakeholders via Tags

  • segmentation versions within package scope

Future Considerations

We plan shortly add Tags to Insights and Gadgets to help your better tailor the output, but we are open for your suggestions. Drop us a note.
