  • update start and release dates by drag-and-drop

  • add new and edit existing package and versions

  • search roadmap by item name and versions by released/archived status, etc.

  • identify versions which mismatch their parent start/release dates

Also you have right panel to

Scheduling

Scheduling warning

If a version is part of the package and the version start date is before the package start date

or the version release date is after the release date of parent package scheduling,

warning is displayed:

Unscheduled panel

The Unscheduled panel contains all packages and version which don't have the Release date.

It is possible to schedule packages and their versions from that panel in bulk.

The panel has its own search function that can help to find the items to schedule.

If a package has at least one version without a release date  - the package should stay in unscheduled tab even if it has a release date specified. Correspondingly, the package will be shown on the Roadmap.

In order to schedule a package or a version, click the Schedule button  next to the item to be scheduled.

Package scheduling dialog

  1. Start date of the package

  2. Release date of the package

  3. Apply the start date of the package as the start date of each unscheduled version that belongs to the package

  4. An option to apply the release date of the package as the release date of each unscheduled version that belongs to the package

  5. Option to independently specify the start date of each particular version in the package

  6. Option to independently specify the release date of each particular version in the package

Schedule version dialog

“Show Unscheduled” toggle

Alternative way to show unscheduled versions is “Show unscheduled“ toggle.

When you toggle it on all unscheduled version will be show “for today“ with blurred start/release date giving you an indication that both start release dates have to be specified.

Schedule versions and packages

In order to adjust start/release date of versions/packages(including unscheduled if Show unscheduled“ toggle is on) you need to click on it.

You will see “three vertical dots“ close to start/release dates. When you put a mouse over it the cursor will change with left-right arrows. By clicking and moving it you can change start/release date respectively.

You can also move package/versions by drag & drop.

If the version you are moving is a part of one or couple of packages and new version start/release date exceeds start/release dates of package the App will suggest to alter you impacted packages.

You can decide to

  • amend respective release dates

  • either keep original dates

  • cancel the change

Swimlanes

Roadmap view have a couple of swimlanes configurations

Swimlanes by packages

The main use case is organizing swimlanes by packages to see

  • package on timeline

  • encompassing versions including scheduling conflicts

  • progress for both packages and versions included into packages

You can also configure how you want package swimlanes to be sorted

Swimlanes by projects

Another possible use case is swimlane by Projects. This is usually a good fit for:

  • show roadmap for different teams/units if they are split in different Jira projects

  • same for Products, Components

If you select swimlane by projects … virtual versions and packages will be shown at the bottom as 2 additional swimlanes.

Edit and browse versions and packages

Right click on any version or package on roadmap view will show a context menu to open

  • standard version/package dialog

  • archive version/package

  • delete version/package

Search and advanced filtering

Users can search for versions and package. Thus the roadmap view will be adjusted according to search results as shown in example below:

In addition to full text search some advanced filtering is available as well, namely:

  • Tags to filter by Version/Package tags

  • Archived/Unarchived

  • Show delayed only

  • Columns representing status (or steps in workflow) for versions and packages

  • Filter by Projects

  • Filter by Project Leads

  • FIlter by version specific and package specific Custom Properties

Export to PDF

If you want to share a snapshot version of your package roadmap you can export it to PDF.

Roadmap Gadget

If you want to share a real time version of your roadmap with your target audience you can alway give a link to release board, but probably using Gadgets for Dashboards and Confluence | Roadmap Gadget on your Dashboard or Confluence is a better option.
