Overview
Roadmap tab is the timeline view for all packages and versions residing on selected release board based on their Start and Release dates.
Packages and versions with the Release date and no Start date are shown as Milestones.
In addition to packages and versions overview on the roadmap you can:
update start and release dates by drag-and-drop
add new and edit existing package and versions
search roadmap by item name and versions by released/archived status, etc.
identify versions which mismatch their parent start/release dates
Navigation and layout
To navigate on the roadmap click on it and move forward / backwards.
Also you have right panel to
collapse/expand swimlanes
Zoom in/out

Scheduling
Scheduling warning
If a version is part of the package and the version start date is before the package start dateÂ
or the version release date is after the package release date,
a warning is displayed:
To fix it click on a version to drag and drop it within package start/release date. Or click on package to amend start/release date to accommodate the version.
Unscheduled versions
All the versions without Start and Release date are considered as “unscheduled“. They are shown on roadmap as small blurred bars for “today“. By clicking on it you can move start/release date and schedule respectively. The changes will be saved automatically.
Schedule versions and packages
To schedule any version or the package you need just click on it. The bar will become dark and you will see left and right arrows.
If you want to change start or release date click on left-, right- arrow respectively and drag it to the date you need. To move the entire bar drag it to the dates you need and drop.
Move milestones
All intermediate milestones defined for versions and packages that matched start/release dates will be shown automatically on the roadmap. To change them put a mouse over it, the cursor will change. With drag and drop you now can move it to the date you need.
Same logic applies to versions/packages with only release date defined that are shown as milestones (diamonds).
Swimlanes
We have flexible configurations of swimlanes. Thus, you can choose from:
Swimlanes by packages
If you select packages for swimlanes we will group all the versions (fix- and virtual-) by the packages they belong too. Remember that one version might belong to multiple packages. All versions without a parent package are grouped into "Versions without package" at the bottom of the roadmap.
By clicking on the icon close yo package name you can open the later for editing.
Sorting options
In case you organize swimlanes by packages you can sort them
packages name,
start date,
release date,
or status.
Swimlanes by projects
If you select projects for swimlanes we will group all fix-versions by projects (1-to-1 relationship). We will also outline all the virtual versions and all the packages as 2 additional swimlanes at the bottom of the roadmap.
Sorting options
In case you organize swimlanes by project you can sort them
Project name,
or Project category.
Swimlanes by tags
You can group your versions and packages on roadmap by Tags.
Sorting options
Tags are sorted alphabetically. You can also configure the order you would like sorting to work, namely
ASCending
DESCending
Swimlanes by types
You can also group versions and packages by type, namely Packages first, followed by Versions, Epics, Sprints and JQL versions (the later 3 are virtual versions).
No sorting options are available if you select swimlanes by tags.
Collapse/expand, zoom in/out
Any package swimlane could be expanded or collapsed individually or all together using controls on the top bar.
Edit and browse versions and packages
To view or edit any version or package right click on it to select View issues or Edit.
If you have simlanes by packages you can also open package details by clicking on the icon close to package name.
Also if your bar is big enough and zooming setting is right by puting a moue on the bar you will see a pencil in the right corner. Clicking on it will open version details screen.
Once you open details screen you have access to the following:
Version/package summary with
standard and custom properties inline editting
Issues statistics
comments/transitions
quick actions (some of them are available from right click menu on the version/package)
Intermediate milestones (Intermediate Milestones "On the Way" )
Issues details
Commits (Git, Bitbucket, CI/CD tools Integrations )
Environments (Inventory of Environments )
Search and advanced filtering
Users can search for versions and packages. Thus the roadmap view will be adjusted according to search results as shown in example below:
In addition to full text search some advanced filtering is available as well, namely:
Tags to filter by Version/Package tags
Archived/Unarchived
Columns representing status (or steps in workflow) for versions and packages
Filter by Environments. Select specific environment or all of the environments of selected type.
Show unscheduled
Project category
Entity type (package, versions, epic, sprint, custom JQL release)
Color coding
Comparing to the board, color coding on the roadmap is much more visible since the entire bar is colored with the color you choose (or the color will be defined automatically)
For details about color coding please navigate to the following section of board settings. Both Automatic and manual options are available.
